I’m hoping this blog will one day be the diary of a Christian traveler, reader, thinker, prophet, writer, creator, musician, avid volunteer, polyglot, fitness enthusiast, psalmist, communicator, businessman, vegan and overall awesome person.

In short, I am a Christian communications student dreaming to be a mogul, but I’ll settle for the role of marketing and communications specialist. When I make my mark on Canada and the rest of the world, I intend to launch a charity called The Tacicia Bryan Wellness Fund and form a band. However, I’m not there yet. Do join my journey. Who knows what could happen?

Disclaimer: First, I am Christian, second, I am black, and third, I am woman. If you don’t want to see positive posts about any of those three categories, do not follow this blog. I try to keep it clean and classy, but occasionally there are mature posts.

P.S. I also use the blog http://thankthelordchristchild.tumblr.com/ when Tumblr gives me the “daily post limit” boot. Check it out!

Girls pose by a jail that recalls the witch trials of 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. Photo taken in 1945.

I recently learned that the water in Salem was contaminated with the fungus from which LSD is derived and a legitimate theory for the whole thing is that everyone in the town was tripping balls

This might be the greatest thing ive ever seen on the internet

We did a whole massive thing on this in history. I believe the fungus in question is called Ergot and it’s terrifying. It makes your muscles spasm so when they had seizures that was the reason, not because they were possessed. One woman had to be strapped to her bed, she was seizing so bad. And, like ‘theybuildbuildings’ said, it had the same effects as LSD; as soon as you touch it, let alone consume it, it messes with your entire system. The worst thing is, you practically always had a bad trip. Many complained about bugs crawling under their skin or monsters emerging from the shadows to scratch and bite at them until they were screaming. It was a horrendous thing and the worst part is, Ergot is still around. It grows on crops and, if your wheat isn’t properly treated, it can be eaten and you’ll most likely experience the same as the women of Salem.

god i love history

the fungus thing is a p weak theory and tumblr is super great at making this stuff sound spooky and fun but there is also a longstanding theory that it was a conflict between younger, new landowning couples and older residents of the salem settlement and their conservative backlash towards the former; I wrote a research paper on it a while ago and I don’t have the details here but you can easily find it in the wiki entry I’m sure
also claiming a fungus poisoning/”tripping out” to exclusively women in this moment of history w/o thinking about who was even writing this shit down, because it wasn’t women is aaaaaallmost the same as claiming witchcraft rly when you think about ittttttt

The fungus thing strikes me as MORE misogynistic than WITCHCRAFT because it repurposes the narrative so it fits into this liberal historiography of progress: “what we once thought was ~spooky demon women~ turned out to be ~women getting high on shrooms~, look how far we’ve come! Progress!” which is a real good way of obscuring contemporary misogyny and violence against women by creating a false image of an even worse misogyny in the past to contradistinguish ourselves from
so basically Alice is right everyone else go home

and even if it were everyone who was “just tripping balls”, they still killed, like, a lot of women? what a cool hallucination where the first thing you wanna do is torture and kill women and girls!!! bet that wasnt influenced by existing mindsets!! nope, everyone was just high

Um also, long before that, “they” (we) knew of the distinction between ergot and LSD, which are not the same, and do not have the same effects at all (seriously, guys???). So:
1. Ergot does not contain LSD.
2. LSD and ergot do not produce the same effects—at all.
3. People have known how to use ergot medicinally for centuries.
4. Ergot poisoning epidemics were already documented and the effects of such a contamination were known as "St Anthony’s Fire".
5. LSD is not going to give you goddamn seizures.
6. what dworkinclasshero said
7. Do LSD.
